I am very pleased to announce that my long-time friend and colleague Ren Hayhurst has joined GoDocs as General Counsel, after consulting with the company for nearly 2 years. Ren and I were partners at Bryan Cave Layton Paisner (“BCLP”) before I left that firm to found GoDocs in 1997. Ren is a nationally renowned real estate finance attorney and we are very fortunate to have him assume the General Counsel role.
Ren received his Juris Doctor degree (Order of the Coif) from the University of Utah in 1987. While there, Ren served as a Law Clerk for the Chief Justice of the Utah Supreme Court. Ren also graduated from the Wharton Business School’s Executive Management and Executive Leadership programs at the University of Pennsylvania.
Since graduating from law school, Ren’s law practice has focused on the representation of lenders in commercial structured finance transactions. Over the years, Ren has represented many of the nation’s most significant national banking associations, life insurance companies, and CMBS lenders.
Before joining GoDocs in a consulting capacity in 2019, Ren was a senior partner in the commercial finance group of BCLP, one of the largest international law firms, with offices around the world. During his 30 years at BCLP, Ren served in many management positions, including managing partner of the firm’s Southern California offices, coordinator of the firm’s Asia operations, and other various senior management positions.
Ren has taught multiple law and business classes at the University of California, Irvine, and is a frequent lecturer for law schools and other educational institutions, speaking on commercial financing issues, law firm management topics, and business development matters.
Ren has been married to his childhood sweetheart for over 36 years. They have 3 daughters.
